My Top 5 Point Guards(Active Players)

There are many great point guards in the NBA right now. In my opinion, this era is dominated by many point guards for me unlike the Jordan Era, big men like Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaq Oneal, Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, David Robinson dominate the league . Basketball sports is already evolved in terms of the dribbling, shooting and etc even the big man can shoot three points. I have my top 5 point guards considering their stats, winning culture, individual achievements.

1. Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry is arguably the best point guard right now in the NBA. He has 2 MVP's in his career and 1 of those is unanimous decision. Aside from that, he has 3 championships and it seems he likes to add more championships in his career. Stephen Curry is known for his unlimited range that can shoot above 30 feet. He is also member in 50-45-90 club alongside with Steve Nash and the most three points made by any active player right now. Currently, he is 3rd in 3-points made in the history of NBA. Stephen Curry is very efficient every night that always give the team a 30 plus points. He's quick release, handles, ability to create space against any defender and attacking to the rim makes him number one. Although he is not a physical gifted to become a defensive player, he exert effort to defend the opponent and he is a team player as well.

2. Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving is a 2.0 version of Allen Iverson because of his handles. He is a legit street baller because of the dribbling exhibition he always did every night. Kyrie Irving is the former teammate of Lebron James in Cleveland and part of the historic 1st title ever in the Cleveland way back 2016. Kyrie Irving made his unforgettable 3 point shot during the game 7 finals against the GSW in the face of Stephen Curry that made the gsw fans heartbroken. That shot led the team by 3 points and the warriors unable to overcome the deficit. Kyrie is a type of player who already mastered the isolation, hesitation and penetration moves that made the opponent's ankle broken. Even the best defender had a hard time to defend Kyrie Irving. He is a 25 points producer every game and one of the clutches player right now.

3. Russel Westbrook

Russel Westbrook is a triple-double machine and a former MVP. He sets the record for most triple double made in a season which is 42 and 1st player ever to average triple-double in a 2 consecutive season. Despite of that performance, Westbrook's still couldn't carry the OKC to the finals since the departure of Kevin Durant. He may have the best stat lines but the field goal percent in any category is not high unlike other point guards. Some people says Westbrook is a stat padder player that stole the rebounds from his teammate just to make 10 rebounds a game. In my opinion, yes he is. In fact, Westbrook led the NBA for most uncontested rebound in the NBA. But I accept the fact that he has all the physical tools of any point guards and he is considered as one of the fastest and athletic point guard right now.

4. Damian Lillard

I considered Damian Lillard as the number 4 point guard right now. He's style of play is like Russel Westbrook with efficiency on the court. I mean unlike Russel Westbrook, Damian can shoot a higher field goal percent than Russel. He is also consistent at the three point line. Damian is a former rookie of the year and one of the best scorer in the NBA right now. He can give you 25-30 points every game and knock down a 30 feet also just like Steph Curry. He can attack to the rim using his athleticism. Damian also recognized for being a clutch shooter under 1 minute of the game clock and called himself  "Dame Time" during clutch moments. Unfortunately, Damian still not experienced the conference finals. His team always fell after conference semifinals. Damian still needs a help for his teammate and its really hard to beat like championship team golden state warriors with 5 allstar in the team.

5. Chris Paul

Chris Paul is the real pure point guard among the 5. He is a pass-first player and can provide 10 assist effortlessly. He has a high basketball I.Q. and great defender as well even he's only 6''0' height. But the heart of Chris Paul makes him one of the best point guard in the league. Way back from his prime days when he was in New Orleans Hornets, he is a 20-15(points-assist) guy. He is a former candidate for MVP award alongside with Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. New Orleans always came up short because of Kobe's Lakers same with his former team Los Angeles Clippers. Right now, Chris Paul is under recovery from his injury but still I consider him as my top 5 point guard in the league.
